Ski Resorts in Montana
Montana may be the last best place. Skiing in Montana is just not as famous as Colorado or Utah, but the mountains near Yellowstone National Park offer the best scenery and wildlife. Big Sky and Whitefish, formerly known as Big Mountain, are two amazing ski resorts in Montana with plentiful snow and long winter seasons.
A ski week at Big Sky, staying in the four diamond slopeside Summit Hotel or a Big Sky Luxury Rental, you can ski over 5,750 ac from Spanish Peaks to Lone Peak to Moonlight Basin, all on one ticket for the Biggest Skiing in America. Skiing Moonlight Basin is the quieter side of Lone Peak, with fewer crowds, and beautiful mountainside homes for rent or for your mountain ski home. Many ski packages to Big Sky include a day trip to Yellowstone National Park, where you can see Yellowstone’s hot springs and geysers including Old Faithful, plus you will witness wandering bison, elk, and wolves leaving snow tracks to follow. Big Sky Montana is also home to great western steak houses and fun après ski at cowboy bars.
The Yellowstone Club is the ultimate in a luxury ski trip. This private ski club is a mountain resort for millionaires. If you have a few cool million, this is the place to build your dream ski home. The ski mansions at Yellowstone are magnificent; the likes of Bill Gates and Warren Miller have ski houses here. The ski slopes are private, with pristine untracked powder given the limited access to the slopes of Yellowstone Ski Resort plus Big Sky and Moonlight ski slopes next door.
Bridger Bowl is a great ski area just 20 minutes from Bozeman, Montana, worth a day visit to ski the steeps off the Ridge. We look forward to skiing more of Montana's ski resorts including Red Lodge, Whitefish, Great Divide, Lost Trail, Discovery, Teton Pass, Lookout, and Montana Snowbowl.
Whitefish Mountain Resort on Big Mountain is huge, but hardly anyone knows about it. This 3,000 ac ski resort in northwest Montana, near Idaho, has skiing all four sides, over 2,300' vertical and wide open bowls, chutes and glades. Whitefish has a base village on the ski slopes with lodging, or you can stay in Whitefish village - named for its centerpiece Whitefish Lake. Whitefish is just a half hour to Glacier National Park. Aside from Skiing the Fish, there is snowmobiling, skijoring, dog sledding, cross-country and snowshoeing to add to your alpine skiing vacation in Whitefish Montana.
